5 Taliban militants perished in Helmand fire-fight

 Five Taliban rebels were killed and four others injured during a clash with police in southern Helmand province on Wednesday night, a police official said.

The gun-battle broke out after a group of the Taliban insurgents attacked on a police checkpoint in the Tarkha Nawar area of Marjah district late on Wednesday night.

A Taliban stronghold for the last five year area, Tarkha Nawa is located among Nawa, Nad-Ali and Marjah districts.

Five attackers were killed and four others suffered injuries during the skirmish.

Civilians stayed unhurt in the encounter, according to the police officer, who said two members of the Afghan National Uniformed Police (ANUP).

A dead body of the rebels along with an AK-47 assault refile remained at the clash site.
