Civilian dead, 3 wounded in Helmand bomb attack

An Afghan civilian was killed and three others wounded during a roadside bomb explosion in southern Helmand province on Saturday.

The casualties happened in the Mairmandab area of the Gereshk district in the evening when the individuals were trying to dig a canal and the Improvised Explosive Device (IED) went off, leaving one person dead and three others wounded.

Separately, a landmine emplaced by the Taliban insurgents exploded in front of the Gereshk district police headquarters on Saturday, causing no fatalities.

Extending his deepest condolences and sympathies to the bereaved family, the Helmand governor, Al haj Muhammad Naeem vehemently condemned the attack as brutal and prayed for swift recovery of the wounded.
