Helmand blast leaves 3 students dead, 3 injured

Three agriculture high school students were killed and as many injured after an explosives-laden motorcycle went off in front of their school in the Marjah district of southern province Helmand.

  The blast took place at around 12:30 pm local time on Monday in front of the agriculture high school, killing three students and wounding three others. The explosive device had been placed in a motorcycle, local police officials said.

The injured were transported to Lashkar Gah, the provincial capital.

The Taliban militants frequently use roadside bombs and Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) to target Afghan and foreign forces. The assaults often lead to civilian casualties.

The Helmand Governor, Muhammad Naeem denounced the bombing as a shameful and cowardly act. He offered his deepest condolences and sympathies to the families of the victims and prayed for quick recovery of the wounded.
